Reverend Harriet Ann Session,  Associate Minister

Harriet, the daughter of Gracie B. (Simmons) Allen and the late Abraham B. Allen is the eldest daughter of five siblings (one brother and
four sisters).

Harriet’s religious background began at the early age of eight, when she united with and was baptized at Thankful Grove Missionary
Baptist Church, Windsor, SC, under the pastorate of Reverend Levi Chavous.  She is a 1966 graduate of Martha Schofield High School,
Aiken, SC; and a 1968 graduate of South Carolina Area Trade School, Denmark, SC.

Upon graduation from South Carolina Area Trade school, she entered the employment arena as a secretary, at South Carolina State
College, Orangeburg, SC.  for the Teacher’s Core, a subsidiary of the Department of Education, where Dr. Isaac Bracey served as
Director.

Her tenure at South Carolina State College ended on April 18, 1970 when she was united in wedlock to Robert M. Session and relocated
to New Jersey.  To this union two children were born (Rayshaw – 1971 & Reenise – 1974).  Upon relocating to N J, she originally
obtained employment with New Jersey Bell and in March 1973 The Department of Veterans Affairs – Newark Regional Office.  She
attended Union County College, Union, NJ, obtaining a certificate in Real Estate, in order to enhance her employment at the Department
of Veterans Affairs, Regional Office.

In June of 1973, she united with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Reverend William J. Harris.  There she
served in several ministries, usher, women’s, and chairperson for several pastoral anniversaries, as well as women’s day.  In February
1997, she was appointed to serve as a deaconess.

In January of 2000 she and Robert transferred their church membership to Imani Baptist Church of Christ, under the pastorate of the late
Reverend Moses A. Knott, Jr., and subsequently to NIA Fellowship Baptist Church also with Reverend Knott, where she continued her
service as a deaconess.  Under Pastor Knott Harriet became an avid Bible Class student; she enrolled and attended Eastern Bible
Institute for two years, obtaining a certificate in “General Bible.” On May 20, 2006 she graduated from New York Theological Seminar’s 2
year certificate program.  The Master has ordered her steps; she continues her religious studies, preaching and teaching to be approved
by the Master.

On July 13, 2002, Harriet delivered the good news to her parents that God was ordering her steps to spread the good news of His
Gospel.  She went forth in confidence and good cheer, because the Lord had bestowed upon her the full armor, equipping her to be a
steadfast true warrior.

Under the Leadership of Reverend Knott, on October 13, 2002, she delivered her spirited initial sermon and was licensed to “Preach God
Gospel”. During June of 2006, she was recommended for ordination, by her Pastor, Rev. Alphonsus E. Platt.  After confirmation by the
ordination council, led by Rev. Dr. George Blackwell, Pastor of Good Neighbor Baptist Church – Newark, NJ, on Sunday – August 20,
2006, she was consecrated into the ministry at her ordination service.  Presently, she is an energetic Associate Minister, Sunday School
Superintendent and Dean of Christian Education of The NIA Fellowship Baptist Church of East Orange, NJ.

Putting God first, her life revolves around her husband of 37 years, Robert Michael Session, and their children Rayshaw (Terressa),
Reenise, and precious grandchildren Keiana Reenise and Kamron Michael.

On April 2, 2004, Harriet concluded a dedicated 30 year career with The Department of Veteran Affair – Newark Regional office.  Now she
rejoices looking forward to increasing her Biblical knowledge, concepts and preaching the Gospel..

Her favorite scripture is:  Psalm 23:1-6
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want…..…….”
